The flute is a woodwind instrument that has been used for centuries in many cultures across the world. It is a popular instrument in classical, folk, and jazz genres. The flute is one of the oldest instruments in the world, with evidence of its use dating back over 40,000 years.
The modern flute is a cylindrical tube made of metal or wood, with open-ended holes along the length. Air is blown across the open end of the tube, causing the air to vibrate inside the tube and creating a sound. This sound is then amplified as it exits through the other end.
The modern flute is played with the fingers placed over the holes in the tube, which creates different notes when opened or closed. The range of notes a flute is capable of playing is usually two and a half octaves.
